1. What Are Gobal Tenders?
Bids are invited from Local as well as Global Suppliers.
Payments to global supplier are made in US$ or in other currencies specified in Tender.
E.g. In case Global Tenders are published from India then both Indian firms & International firms can participate in India except vendor from countries which are barred for some or the other reason e.g. Pakistan.
2. What are National Tenders?
Only those companies which are based in particular country from where Tenders are floated can participate. Payment is made in local currency.
E.g. In case Tenders is floated from India, than only those companies registered in India can participate.
3. What are Open Tenders?
It’s also known as Public Tenders.
Open Tenders are published in Newspapers.
Anyone who think he qualifies & meet the requirement can participate.
4. What are Limited Tenders?
It’s also known as Closed Tenders.
Only registered suppliers can participate in such Tenders.
Tenders are shared via Post/Email/Fax.
Tender may be also put up on Notice Board/Company website
5. What are Vendor Empanelment Tenders?
Many organization float Enlistment Tender to shortlist technically qualified bidders first in first phase.
Then as & when requirement comes, quotes are invited from shortlisted bidders only by floating Limited Tender among them.
All Companies should try to enlist with as many government agencies as possible.
6. What are Single Tenders?
In case of machineries, spares parts, services & maintenance of such machineries can only be supplied by those companies who have supplied the machinery in the first place.
Such supplier are called Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
For such procurement, Single Tender are floated where only one bid is received. Such tender are by default limited in nature.
7. What is Shopping/Rate Contract/Catalogue Tender?

If each & every organization floats a tender to procure standard products, it will be gross waste of time, efforts & money. Hence Rate Contract Tenders are floated
Rates for standard product are fixed as a result of such tenders such that any government can procure the standard product/service at above Rate.
Rate Contract are applicable for period of 1 to 3 years.
DGS&D (Directorate General of Supplies & Disposal) is once such agency which fixes rate contracts.
Rate Contract is also known as Framework Contracts & Catalogue based procurement
8. What is Urgent Procurement?
In case of emergency- natural or political in nature, procurement can be done directly by passing the tendering norm. Such tender are called Urgent Procurement.
In such case procure is done from OEM directly by floating an Inquiry.
